カミヤト凸凹保育園は、神奈川県厚木市の市街地から離れた高齢化の進む地域にこそ子どもの居場所を、という考えで立地が選ばれ、認可保育園と障がい児デイサービスの組合せとして計画された。田畑や養豚場、お寺、河岸段丘の崖地など資源に満ちた風景と連続するように、伽藍という形式を敷地に大きく展開した。敷地をなぞるロの字型の廊（ギャラリー）を幹に、その内外へボリュームを配置し、二つの庭とその周囲に多様な距離感を創出した。廊の内側には２歳棟とホールを隣接させ、土と芝で仕上げた異なる性格の園庭に分節し、外側には西に事務棟、北に３～５歳棟、東に０～１歳棟を風車状に並べ、廊の経験に地域の風景が混ざり合う構成とした。また、敷地の西、北の境界にはフェンスを設けず、「まちてらす」という地域の人の居場所を設けるなど、園とまちの活動に重なりしろを創出した。各々の保育室は、頂側窓をもつ切妻ボリューム、勾配の半屋外空間、園庭という断面で並べ、各々異なる方位へ向いている。この断面構成が、スケール、視野の広がり、光、風、雨など自然現象との調和、異年齢との距離などを段階的に変化させ、異なる環境を作り出す。園内からまちまでの活動を繋ぐ伽藍を下敷きとしたこの園は、人・自然・地域の様々な資源の関係を日々更新するような、対話する建築となる。
The Kamiyato deco-boco Nursery School was chosen based on the idea of having a place for children to live in an aging area away from the urban area of Atsugi City, Kanagawa, and was planned as a combination of a nursery school and day service for children with disabilities. The “Garan-Layout” has been widely deployed on the site so as to be continuous with the scenery full of resources, such as fields, pig farms, temples, and cliffs of river terraces. With a square-shaped gallery tracing the site, volumes were placed inside and outside the gallery, creating a variety of distances between the two gardens and their surroundings. Inside the corridor, a 2 year-old space and a hall are adjacent to each other, and divided into two gardens finished with soil and grass. The office building to the west, the 3-5 year-old building to the north, and the 0-1 year-old building to the east are arranged in a windmill shape to mix the local scenery with the experience of the gallery. There were no fences on the west and north borders of the site, and there was a space for people in the area called "Machi-teracce” to create overlap between the activities of the nursery and the town. Each nursery has a gabled volume with a high-side window, a semi-outdoor space, and a garden, which are oriented in different directions. This cross-section creates a different environment by gradually changing the scale, the harmony with natural phenomena such as light, wind, and rain, and the distance from another age. With a “Garan-layout” that connects activities from the nursery to the town, this nursery is a dialogue-arhitecture that renews daily the relationships between people, nature and local resources.
